San Jose'

Modern Day San Jose', the Capital of Costa Rica,
is
filled with History, Art and Culture, lots of
nightlife, and
shopping. There is a vital quality
to the hustle and
sheer movement of
the city and very definitely
something remains, of the
coffee growing bourgeoisie,
and
their
Neo-classic architecture and whimsical
Caribbean
art and colonial styles.
The Gold Museum and
Jade Museum, along with the
elegant "National Theater" and the "Down-town"
Plaza,
and Central Park, are the
hub of San Jose',
surrounded
by
old International Hotels, and hundreds
of small "independent"
shops, selling everything
"imaginable".

There is an
unpredictable "montage" of commerce,
historical buildings, government buildings, internet cafes
and banks. And the Main Avenues, where no cars are
permitted, are streaming with business people
and
shoppers and vendors
of all kinds.
I call it, the "San
Jose' Strutt", strutting along the
Avenues are also young, beautiful "Ticas"
dressed in
their fineries, who go to meet their
friends or lovers
as well.
There are places for recreation and
entertainment, universities, theaters, art galleries
and
eateries.
Modern
Hospitals and Medical clinics, dentists, plastic
surgeons, and "Chelation" specialists,
offering quality
services, at a
price one
can afford.

The flowering of San Jose', began sometime during
the first half of the 19th century, when Europe decided
to
have it's daily cup of coffee.
Coffee "Barons" ruled
the country and established it's wealth, in
the International Community.
With every bag of coffee, that
was exported, there was
a
proportionate enrichment of the economic, social and
cultural life, of the "Josefinos".

San Jose' also exports: Chiquita Bananas, Pineapples, Coconuts, Cacao, Sugar, Palm Oils, Natural Rainforest
Beauty and Health Products, Rum, Intel Computers and
parts, Premium Cigars
from Vegas de Santiago,
Tobacco, Mangos, Avocados, Bamboo Products,
Textiles, Plants and Tropical
Flowers, and a tremendous
variety
of other products.

San Jose' was the 3rd
city in the world, to have public
electric lighting, and one of the first to have public
telephones. San Jose' is progressive,
dotted with
international and Tico restaurants, internet
cafés,
nestled
next to huge high tech companies and banks.
Costa Rica is
"famous" in the International community
for being a "neutral" Country. They have no "Military"
Forces.
So consequently, they have no wars.
