"The Magic City of Escazú"

(Ciudad de Las Brujas)

In Escazú, "The
City of the Witches",
mysterious things
happenm "Geophysical Forces" combine to
"create"
images on the mountains and Witches
secretly live,
along the mountain tops of Escazu.
South of San
José, in Costa Rica, lies a mountain
range,
called the "Cerros de Escazú". These mountains are
beautiful
and mysterious and they hide a secret.
Carved out of a pasture,
on the entire side of the
mountain,
is a distinct figure of a young
girl. Who is
she? She is
known as "La Muchacha de la
Montaña".
To see her, visit
La Sabana, which is a large park
and recreation area, in the
western sector of the city.

If you have
problems
visualizing the
figure,
refer
to
the photograph here
which outline the principle
figure
lines.
Look South to
a high point, where you will see a white
cross, called
La Cruz de Alajuelita. To the
right or West,
you will see another high point, with a radio transmission
tower. Look directly down from this
tower and you will
see an open pasture.
This open pasture
area, outlines the head of the girl,
with
her face turned skyward and toward
the cross.
To the
right of her head and down,
you will see
another clearing, which forms
her shoulder and upper
arm. Below
her upper
arm, a country road winds up
the
mountainside, which by a strange
coincidence,
forms her outstretched forearm. The road
swerves
exactly where
her wrist should be.
The photograph shown above, is a close-up of the
area
I have described. The photograph has
not
been retouched
in
any way. It is exactly what the
camera sees. Who if, anyone, is
responsible,
for this
intriguing figure? Does the terrain
of land,
have remembrances?

Escazu,
was originally a crossroads, on
trails between
Indian villages and the Indians
found it a good place,
to spend the night, on their
journeys and gave it it's
name, "Izt-kat-zu", which means "resting stone".
And the "spirits"
of these Indians, reside in the
"Cerros
de Escazu".
Spanish settlers, were also attracted
to Escazú, where
they built their houses in the hills, and began farming,
and brought their ancient witchcraft
arts.

It was during these early
days, that Escazú became
known
as the
(City of the "Good Witches"), and many
say, there are witches living here
still, high
in the
mountains of
Escazu, who will, for a fee, tell one's
fortune
or create
a "love" potion.

Escazu
City Seal

In
Escazu,
City "Chic" meets Country Charm, creating
a
strange, sensuous allure. The allure of a vibrant Life,
where hearts can touch and mingle, and minds can excel.

Stain glass of
San Gildar,
18th. century protector
of the town of Escazu.
In this mountain town, campesinos in rural houses, are
residing
comfortably, next to large properties of
diplomats
and international jetsetters. Cool
winds, blow
down from the mountains, creating "post-card picture"
days, while
exotic birds sing the magic,
that is Escazú.
Today, Escazú is an interesting and unique blend,
of old
Costa Rica and a modern, international community. The
town center, has adobe buildings, a nice
church and a
soccer field.
It has the
feeling of a sleepy, campesino town, where
neighbors
have known each other, for generations. Just
outside of town, however, are
enclaves of luxury homes,
owned by North Americans and Europeans, drawn to
the mysterious allure of Escazú.
